Commuters can now rate their local train station and suggest improvements on their mobile phones.
Organised by local councils, the pt4me2 Better Stations survey will be used to advocate to the State Government for improvements to train stations.
Metropolitan Transport Forum Chair Cr Jackie Fristacky said the survey had been customised for mobile phones because so many commuters had smart phones.
‘You can do our survey waiting on the station or riding on the train,’ she said.
Cr Fristacky said the promise of PSOs on stations had highlighted the need to improve stations in many ways.
‘Already the survey is showing strong support for more shelter, better cleaning and toilets on stations,’ she said.
‘Stations are the beginning and end of every train trip. We’re looking for cost effective ways of making them better that we can advocate to the state government and councils,’ she said.

No one I know commutes on public transport because we live in Mernda and Doreen.

Great to see your mobile station rating tool, for me the greatest issue is connections, I change twice to get to work (tram, train, train) and I'd love to see a mobile 'rate a connection' tool.
Coordination between operators and modes is still dismal and seems to me to be a cost effective way to improve the entire system. Our system really doesn't seem to be 'user friendly'..
Thanks and keep up the good work!

Hello there. I felt your survey was very unprofessional. It obviously had a desired outcome, hence the question base was so
narrow. I am very pleased with my local station at Murrumbeena,
but am concerned about the heavy foliage around the station access, outside toilets and near the car park. I am an older commuter, who travels at night. - the trees around the external toilet block form a dark "cave" very spooky to walk past/trough and often has people
drinking, lurking in there. This is unsafe and unpleasant, You
have no visual clearance through the trees. I am not fir enough to
walk across the station overpass steps, and have encountered groups of teenagers sitting on the steps at night, although they have never been threatening or unpleasant. I try to practice safe mobility to my car, keys in hand etc, and do not see problems where there are non.
You gave no space for comments about any other issues. Your
surveys should really be more broadly constructed to get the best outcome.
Hoping for an improvement.
