I am a student who goes to a school that is a fair distance away from Doncaster. It takes at least 30 minutes to school each day by car and now that the fuel and petrol prices are on the rise, it has become difficult for my family. By investing in public transport it will not only help the environment but improve our community's convience.

My area of Melbourne - Templestowe - only has buses (no trains, no trams) that do not service my needs enough to use them as a reliable, user-friendly alternative to driving my car. That is why everyone in my area drives a car! I have written a letter to the Manningham Public Transport review and at this stage there has only been talk of improvements. The only exception is the Nightrider bus now servicing Templestowe. I have noticed a steady increase in the city bound Eastern Freeway services this year and the situation is reaching a critical point, especially at peak hour. One day I had to catch the 305 bus because the 301 stops leaving the city at a ridiculously early 6.30pm. This bus was so packed coming home from the city that the mass of people crushed me against a metal barrier when the bus jeered to a stop, and I hurt my leg. There was simply no stopping the mass of people. Do you think this is acceptable public transport for a city that was once voted the world's most liveable? To even consider cutting back on public transport funding is ludicrous. If anything the governments both State and Federal should consider increasing and fast-tracking public transport projects that are decades overdue. This is an issue that, if not dealt with in a swift and decisive manner, will threaten to put a black mark on our city. The warning signs are already apparent. Please consider this in your funding of public transport.

Due to overcrowding on public transport, people are becoming increasingly rude, ill-mannered, and desperate. There is noticeably more pushing and shoving to get on trains, because people fear that if they don't, they won't be able to fit on. Road rage is a recognised condition - it appears that public transport rage has arisen as a result of the poor services. Current conditions are breeding a mentality/society where people are accustomed to pushing and shoving and not respecting others to get what they want. What's more, this is spreading to other areas of society, so not only those who catch transport are affected.

I think there is always room for improvement in the public transport system of Victoria, particularly in the western suburbs!Commuters are patient, but they deserve a public transport system that is reliable, well maintained and keeps pace with future needs. You can't travel far on a 2 hour zone 2 ticket, particularly when trains are often delayed or cancelled and buses arrive late.Congestion on the Sydenham rail line (and main roads), could be eased if the line to Caroline Springs was electrified.It would also be fabulous if local buses for example, the 476 Moonee Ponds-Hillside bus, arrived on schedule so that secondary students arrived at school on time and other commuters did not arrive at Watergardens Station to see their train depart without them!!!!!!!
Unless commuters march on Parliament, this government will do nothing to fix the problem. Talk of a light rail from Doncaster to the city has been going on for years. It will come up again just before the next election where Brumby, the most useless man in politics (Kosky being the most useless woman in politics), will make all sorts of promises on PT. If we are stupid enough to vote Labor in again, then Useless Brumby will make up some rubbish to not proceed. You would need thousands of signatures and emails to Useless just to get his attention. He doesnt' care. He is too busy spending millions on refurbishing his and his minister's offices to care about us. A march on Parliament by all bus, train and tram users is the only way. When a taxi driver was being bashed or killed every 2nd day, they stopped traffic in the city and they did NOT move until their demands were met. Whether you agree with their actions or not, they succeeded and that is what we want.
